Who is SAFREA?

Since 1999, SAFREA has been supporting freelancers in southern Africa. It offers members rich resources and training materials, provides a like-minded community of creatives and much more.

How do I join SAFREA?

SAFREA is open to all working freelancers in the media and communications industry. You can apply for membership by filling in our online application form.

If you have questions about how to complete the form, or want more information on our membership criteria, email us at: admin@safrea.co.za

Why join SAFREA?

Freelancing is for those who enjoy independence. So why join an organisation? SAFREA offers career-building resources and community connections for media freelancers who want more.

Strategic Development Plan 2015/16

SAFREA leadership created a strategic development plan (SDP) to help streamline and improve the organisation so that it serves its members with a clear and focused purpose.

Why Safrea was formed

Advances in technology have made it easier to work from home and the communications field is particularly suited to this. At the same time, more and more skilled professionals have found themselves out of work as companies have tightened their belts. Rather than carry the costs of staff positions, employers are turning to freelancers or contractors to fill their requirements.

Safrea Constitution

The Safrea constitution underwent an intensive review during the first quarter of 2012, resulting in a revised constitution being issued during May 2012.
