SAFREA Eastern Cape co-hosts "Freelancing for Success" with Nelson Mandela University
On Friday 1st September 2017 SAFREA (Eastern Cape chapter) and Nelson Mandela University hosted a joint-venture, half-day conference entitled “Freelancing for Success.”
Five Eastern Cape Safreans made presentations to an audience of over 120 attendees, comprised of both faculty heads and students from both NMU and local tertiary institutions. Topics ranged from the business of freelancing, to entrepreneurship, networking, offshore income generation, business English, e-mail etiquette, professionalism, pricing of services, copyright, plagiarism, and (of course) SAFREA – its mandate, features and membership benefits. Each presenter had an opportunity to field questions after delivering their pitches; which enhanced audience participation.
We also held a ‘lucky draw,’ where respondents who correctly answered questions based on content presented, won flash drives (donated by Brand Innovation).
We are grateful for the contributions made by Safreans: Adelina Gamatham, Carey Finn-Maeda, Carol Leff, Samantha Venter, Lize Hayward, Bazil Raubach, and Bryan Howard. Special thanks also to NMU’s Lyndsay van der Berg and Zuko Gingcana (the conference MC).
