The SAFREAN: March 2017

Bringing you the latest news in South African freelancing

Dear Safreans,

Our April AGM is fast approaching, which is an exciting time for SAFREA. We will be electing new regional and executive committee members - and we want you to get involved!

SAFREA is built on the passion of its volunteers. This is your chance to join the team, and help our organisation grow even more in 2017. If you're interested in getting involved - or you know a member who you'd like to nominate, please get in touch. For regional committee volunteers, you can contact your local chair here. For executive volunteers, please get in touch with me or Bruce
Now that the year is in full swing, we are happy to report that our membership is growing - and that includes student members. In efforts to better understand how we can serve our younger members, we've recently conducted a student survey. The results show the next generation of freelancers to be highly motivated and enthusiastic. Great news! We want to continue to foster this attitude with a mentorship programme for student members. Those interested in taking part and sharing your skills and experiences should email me directly.
I hope you are looking ahead with great enthusiasm at this next year with SAFREA. Here's to a fruitful March.

Not sure if you've noticed, but we've had a lot going on recently. Here's a quick look back at a very productive month.
Look out for more news and updates on the SAFREA website and social media outlets.

Learn more about Jade, and find the link to her writing site as well as her contact details by visiting her SAFREA profile, here.

Did you know that as a spotlighted member, Jade will now be featured on all of SAFREA's social media platforms. How great is that? What a way to get exposure as a freelancer!

It's about time you ask yourself: how's my profile looking?

At SAFREA, we're always on the lookout for time-saving tricks and business insights to help our members take their careers to the next level.

We all want to be associated with a reliable, accredited organisation, so it’s our goal to make sure your name stands out. That means, giving you the tools you need to succeed.

This month, we take a closer look at closer look at Wave Accounting. We mentioned this programme as one of our “five tips to get organised” in our September 2016 issue, but now that the financial year has just ended, and we've got our provisional tax estimates plastered in on minds, it’s worth taking a closer look at this free app that can truly save you time and money.

With its sleek invoicing templates that are straightforward and easy to prepare, bookkeeping options, a credit card processing system and full accounting and payroll software for up to 9 employees in a business, this Canadian company is getting everything right. Wave's biggest competitor is QuickBooks, but in our mind, the word "free" makes it the more appealing choice.
