The SAFREAN: October 2017

Bringing you the latest news in South African freelancing

Dear Safreans,

Change is afoot! The electoral process is ongoing, but our new Exco and Oversight committees should be inaugurated and in action within the next couple of weeks. We trust that they will help guide SAFREA forward into a world of new possibilities in 2018. Watch this space for updates.

If you haven't yet followed SAFREA on FacebookTwitterLinkedIn or Instagram, we'd like to encourage you to do so. Our social media team keep the platforms buzzing with freelancing news and tips - and it's a great way to engage with your fellow Safreans. Plus, every Wednesday we showcase work by members - helping boost your reach. If you have something worth sharing, send it over and we'll see what we can do.

Special thanks to Alec Smith for our awesome newsletter photos this month. If you are a photographer and want to add your work to our growing SAFREA image library, please get in touch with our social media manager, Laura Dubber

Wishing you all a productive October.

It's been a relatively quiet few weeks for SAFREA, but all manner of exciting things are being planned behind the scenes. We hope to be able to share some of these with you in the November newsletter. In the meantime, there are a few great events we think you might be interested in (scroll a little further for details).
Look out for more news and updates on the SAFREA website and social media channels.

This month we’re featuring Meneesha Govender, a Durban-based freelance content creator and social media manager (who also happens to be our KZN Chair).

After 16 years chasing down stories in newsrooms, Meneesha decided a change of scene was necessary and is learning to be her own boss. Read more about Meneesha and find the link to her website as well as her contact details by visiting her SAFREA profile here

If you'd like to be next month's featured member, or know someone who should be, give us a shout!

At SAFREA, we're always on the lookout for time-saving tricks and business insights to help our members take their careers to the next level.

This month, we're doing a throwback to this sage advice on small talk and job mining - an oldie (but real goodie) on networking by Safrean Jaco Wolmarans.
