Nicky Willemse wants to live in a world where travel is cheap, children and animals are treated only with love, crime is the stuff of films and fiction, and everyone has enough.
The winner of two regional Vodacom awards for journalism, her work has been featured in The Mail and Guardian, Engineering News, Business Day, The Argus, Weekend Post, The Herald, Die Burger, PE Express, Algoa Sun, Algoa FM and MyPE.co.za. She has also worked on internal, web and social media publications for Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Goodyear, Hi-Q and Fitness Network; written radio transcripts on personal finance; and edited countless publications. She has also co-written a coffee table book (on the 150-year-old history of a bus company, which started as horse-drawn trams!) and compiled and edited copy for several exhibitions.
When she’s not writing up a storm, you can find her on the weekend party circuit (for her three kids, aged two, four and seven), engrossed in a novel, staying up too late to watch a film on TV, or drinking too much coffee with old friends.
Her newest book project (focusing on innovative solutions to South Africa’s maths and science education crisis) will be out soon – and keep an eye on the press for her latest articles.
