Chartered Public Relations Practitioner (CPRP)

Public Relations Institute of SA (PRISA)

I am a freelance writer, trainer and communication specialist, having lectured on a part-time basis to students of PRISA and its accredited training body, ProVox, since 1987.  Courses cover the full spectrum of corporate communication on basic as well as advanced levels and include PR management. Functional disciplines extend to PR writing, creative and media writing, business writing, web writing media relations, editing and proofreading, crisis communication, reputation management, strategic communication planning, event management, community relations and many others.

I have addressed numerous conferences and workshops on a variety of related topics and also facilitate Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training workshops for PR practitioners.

In 2007 and 2008 I was Chief Judge of the PRISA Prism Awards; the highest awards for excellence in PR work in Southern African. I again served as a PRISM judge in 2014 and as a Chief Judge in 2015. I was a former chairman of PRISA’s Gauteng Region and a member of the Board of PRISA and its Disciplinary Committee.

I am a prolific copy writer, developing texts for clients across the world, particularly in Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the Far East and throughout Southern Africa. These cover diverse sectors, including green energy, engineering, construction, architecture, law, tourism, banking, IT, mining, agriculture, forestry, local government, insurance and entertainment.

I have also extensively translated business, legal and technical texts from Afrikaans and Dutch/Flemish to English.

In May 2010 I received the PRISA President’s Award for my contributions to the PR and communication industry in South Africa.
