A unique blend of experience of writing, media technologies and management, in print, broadcast and digital media.

After an initial 18 months in television (SWABC, Namibia), I moved quickly into print; working for the Windhoek Observer as Political Reporter, covering the Namibian independence process (including the elections, Constituent Assembly and Parliament). Then as Managing Editor of the Windoek Observer, I oversaw the newsroom, managed production, wrote editorials and contributed to the Namibian Code of Ethics for Journalists.

Returning to South Africa in 1992, I freelanced for The Argus, Weekend Argus, Cape Times, Sunday Times and South and then in 1993 moved to Port Elizabeth as a Sub-Editor on the Evening Post. In 1995, I returned to the Cape Times as a Sub-Editor, helping with the implementation of the QPS production system and susequent relaunch of the Cape Times.

During 1995 I helped setup and operate IONS, the fore-runner of IOL (www.iol.co.za), with Mark Shuttleworth and Andrew Morris.

In 1996, I started my own digital media consultancy, helping SME business understand the internet and so integrate digital technologies into their business processes; while also writing freelance technology articles for the Cape Times, completing a variety of research projects and also assisting the Daily Despatch move to QPS technology.

2002 I moved to the UK and worked as a Techncal Editor for Fasthosts Internet and at the BBC, where I co-ordinated technical and design workgroups acoss 6 content-commissioning divisions of the BBC.

Then as a contracting Project Manager or Change Manager, I worked for a variety of organisations, including the British Home Office, BP, Truvo, Whitbread, Care Quality Commission, Money Advice Service (FSA), managing the development and operation of large online publishing systems (Content Management Systems).

In 2014 I returned to South Africa, where I live and work in Cape Town.
