Profession:Writer, Proofreader, Copyeditor

I have been employed as an independent contractor for more than six years in the medico-legal field. My work has included writing conclusions to neuropsychological assessments for clinical psychologists, amongst others, as well as proofreading the work of other writers in these practices. I have also, upon request, delivered training to newly employed proofreaders and writers.

My background is one of Social Work at a community level which included training and report writing. This was followed by a private natural health care practice with a primary focus on Therapeutic Reflexology. My involvement included membership and chairing of the local branch, on a voluntary basis outside of managing a practice, as well as looking after the Public Relations portfolio at a national level. I thus have an Honours degree and a diploma. My work has always required ongoing communication with clients, various authorities and the public.

Membership with Safrea would enhance my current work focus as I would like to expand into academic proofreading and copy-editing, as well as proofreading and copy-editing services to a broader sector.

Currently, the focus of my services is on eliminating errors and incongruencies, identifying overlooked facts and ensuring an unembellished, precise document that represents the client fairly, meets the highest quality standards and stands up to rigorous scrutiny. My services include:

  • Support writing services for clinical medico-legal reports in the field of neuropsychology
  • Proofreading and copy-editing - punctuation, formatting, grammar, style
  • Ensuring consistent use of professional terminology
  • Establishing congruency within texts
  • Elimination of superfluous information
  • Quality review – monitoring and supervision of accuracy of documents
  • Training and skills transfer in writing and editing requirements
