Experience

I'm Lauren and I'm a 20 something writer based in Johannesburg.

My passion for writing began back in junior school where English was always my favourite subject. During high school, I went on to participate in national essay writing competitions such as the English Olympiad which I won in 2011. I was also a high achiever in the advanced English Program.

My tertiary studies came in the form of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Fashion from LISOF. My majors included Media Studies, Business and Marketing.

I am a proud entrepreneur owning a successful dance school in Bedfordview which has gained high popularity in a short space of time due to my skills in social media marketing and management. In the digital age, I believe social media is the way forward when it comes to marketing and I have finely tuned my skills by making use of a mentor in this department: Clint Salter. I regularly attend webinars and online training with Clint Salter to enhance my writing abilities, particularly when it comes to producing an engaging marketing campaign. Managing my dance studio's marketing camapigns and social media accounts has taught me a great deal, particularly about producing content for niche markets.

Print wise, I have produced content for publications from Panorama Media as well as Kwenta Media.

I have a passion for producing lifestyle content consumed primarily by women, however, I am always willing to accept a challenge and grow as a writer.

I'm a language and grammar enthusiast; I believe the level of writing and use of language amongst those of the millenial generation is disappointingly low as many are not exposed to the written word on a regular basis. Reading books, magazines and blogs has always played an integral part in my life and I believe this is the reason why I have a deep appreciation for the written word and power of language.
