I’ve being involved in journalism since 1984 when I was appointed as a general reporter at Middelburg Observer. In 1989 I moved to Nelspruit after being offered a post by Lowvelder as general news journalist. I soon found my forte in hard news, crime, court, municipal councils and investigative reporting. I was promoted to senior reporter. From 2001, while working at Lowvelder, I also covered hard news for the The Citizen. In 2005 I was appointed as the provincial reporter for Beeld and Media24. In March 2018 I retired. During my career I won numerous awards amongst others the Nat Nakasa Award for Courageous Journalism (2004) as well as Caxton’s Journalist of the Year (early 2005.) For the past year I acted as correspondent for News24 as well as Lowvelder.
