Experience

I currently work as a home-based market analyst for clients in the precious metals field.  The nature of my work includes providing clients with insights into the South African business situations which impact on their business.  Furthermore I have done some editing, referencing and transcribing.

I have been a market analyst since 1987, mostly on the precious metals side but also in stainless steel and base metals such as nickel and ferrochrome.  I have developed a deep understanding of the commodity markets. I have many years’ experience in strategy and business intelligence. With all my years in the mining industry I have a good understanding of the processes and economics of mining. I am highly numerate and analytical. I have developed my own models for forecasting of both supply and demand, both in the PGM and stainless steel markets.

I possess an excellent command of the English language and have finely honed my written communication skills. My report on the Stainless Steel and Ferrochrome Industry prepared for Consolidated Metallurgical Industries was published in an International publication, while my Market Review for Anglo American Platinum’s annual report received high acclaim and contributed to the annual report receiving many awards such as:

Ernst & Young Award for 3rd place in top 100 companies: Excellence in Financial Reporting

Investment Analysts 1st prize in Resources – Precious Metals Sector for best reporting and communications

Overall Winner, South African Annual Report Awards (sponsored by JSE and Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators).

Further to the above, I was responsible for the monthly marketing report for Opsco, Quarterly Board Reports and ad hoc research papers..
