I have more than 25 years in financial journalism, working first for The Mercury in Durban and then for Business Day as their regional correspondent. I went into full-time freelance journalism in 2006 writing across a host of media and topics. These include business personality profiles, trends, property developments, exports and exporting opportunities, health, education and legal as well as public relations work where the company does not have the capacity to write hard news financial stories. I spent time as The Sunday Tribune property editor before Independent Newspapers changed its property publication format, while the arena of annual reports or integrated reports is one in which I am also making headway.

In a ghost-writing capacity, I have written numerous columns and opinion pieces under the byline of an industry specialist (company managing director, regional director) again where the client has not the time to invest in writing, but acknowledges the value of branding through these types of editorials. I have edited several self-published books and am not beyond the possibility for writing a book from scratch as a ghost writer.

In addition to financial journalism, I have a passion for wine and thus write a biweekly wine column for The Mercury focusing on educating consumers on wine, wine etiquette and styles; had a monthly column in The Mercury supplement Food and Wine before it was canned and write all the editorial for the annual Mercury Wine Week event. In 2016 I was a contributor to the Eat Out Restaurant guide reviewing restaurants across KwaZulu-Natal with a slightly different approach that comes from my training and interests.

Online versions of my work can most easily be found via the Famous Publishing stable where their most well-known magazines include The Ridge, The Crest, Business in Durban, Pivot and The COG; University World News; Medical Brief and Independent Newspapers
