Dear Safreans,

No man’s land – an indeterminate or undefined place or state.

As I write to you, Safrea is in that strange “no man’s land” where the AGM has been completed, but the regional chairs have not been confirmed and the new Exco has not been set up.

Of course, the work continues, and the existing committee has been carrying on but I know that we would not be able to achieve anything without the consistent presence of our administrator, Thea Abound, and our treasurer, Vaughan Jones.

I am really excited about the new committees that are in the process of being formed. So many excellent candidates came forward and I am sure that we are going to see even greater progress this year.

You would have seen that we advertised for somebody to take charge of the Safrea communications. An interview panel comprising of Arthur Goldstuck, Denise Mhlanga and Neesa Moodley interviewed the two candidates. They confirmed that the choice was not easy because both were excellently qualified, but a decision had to be made. So please join me in congratulating Lisa Bingham who will begin her new role at the end of this month. I am looking forward to seeing Safrea in the news even more. I would like to also take this opportunity to thank Lize Hayward for all the hard work that she has put into the marketing portfolio over the year.
