Dear Safreans,

I am better equipped to take a photograph that says a thousand words, than to write them. However, photographers, generally speaking, are the proverbial “fly-on-the-wall.” We are trained and skilled in observing and creating moments that resonate with our viewers.

With this in mind, I would like to share with you my objective and slightly elevated, off-to-the-side vantage point – what you have or can have, as a member of this association. I am continually amazed and humbled that there exists in the world, a small group of people, whose struggles and battles, although very similar to mine and yours, find time and buckets of energy to fight for other people’s well-being and rights.

I have been part of the fight for professional photographer’s rights over the past 40 years and have been a member of Safrea and the Exco team for the past 18 months.  As Safrea members, you have a highly professional team that engage not only monthly or weekly, but hourly, on a wide range of disparate events and topics, that affect your daily lives. They ask very little of the members and it’s really difficult to comprehend what is physically achieved.

Take the time to visit the Safrea website, engage with the various media groups and involve yourselves, just a little, and you will be amazed at what you get.  And help to carve a path for yourselves and the next generation.
